A technology company offering software for pharmacists, created by a pharmacist! Acting as a pre-triage system, the Empego Technologies Inc. application allows for faster clinical decision-making and optimized consultations. Patients themselves can use it as a tool for detecting and preventing infection risks. Philippe Chartrand is a conscious entrepreneur who firmly believes in the “role of patients in managing their health.” To calculate the risks of catching COVID-19, he even created an online test, offered free of charge and hosted by the Fédération des pharmaciens du Québec and the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec. The application, an interactive questionnaire, is based on a scoring system and standardized data collection. The company, which has experienced meteoric growth of 800% since its creation, was praised by Ulysse Bergeron of Le Devoir: “the niche is promising and the fruit is ripe for this type of solution,” said the economic journalist.

Empego Technologies Inc. Receives Symbolic Media Blessing

Company

Revolutionizing art by making it accessible through technology. Created in 2018 by Guillaume Parent , an engineer from a family of artists, Gallea aims to connect a network of artists to exhibition spaces. Making a living from art is not a given. Enhancing and personalizing the atmosphere of your hotel or restaurant is not either. With his project, Guillaume connects artists and owners of exhibition spaces, businesses, restaurants and hotels. The platform already brings together 6,000 artists and offers 30,000 works. The ITHQ will soon display around a hundred on its wall. Gallea received the blessing of Maxime Johnson, an independent journalist specializing in new technologies and a columnist for L'actualité: "This innovation democratizes art. It is positive for the artist who has a better chance of selling his works, for the public who can get to know more artists and for the places that are transformed. Don't talk to me about a generic Ikea painting on the walls of a hotel or my favorite cafe!

Coinmiles is like the Groupon of millennials and Gen-Z!” says its founder Dave Pouliot . The concept is to offer bitcoin cashback to users for their online or in-store purchases. Dave Pouliot is a former police inspector who became a lawyer and then an entrepreneur. Interested in the world of finance and technology, he set up an application that offers a cryptocurrency cashback system. “It’s a bit embarrassing to take your girlfriend to a restaurant with a coupon, it’s not done anymore!” he says with a laugh. “And for businesses, it’s beneficial to engage their customers by setting up a rewards system.” With more than 700 partners including Microsoft, Walmart, Decathlon, Simons and many others, Coinmiles is also the first company in the world to offer instant cashback in bitcoins when you use VISA or Mastercard to pay. The platform already has 30,000 users in 3 and a half months and around 200 new members per day!

Tech

If smartphones have represented the technological innovation of the last decade, 3D reality is now changing the way we interact with content. DeepSight was founded in 2018 by a handful of young people ( Louis-Antoine Genin-Brien , Charles-Philippe Lepage , Nicolas Bearzatto , Francis Dubé , Nathan Shummoogum and Alexander Haniotis ). Its mission remains human-centered: to give operators in the industrial sector new ways to train for complex manual tasks. With holographic guides in augmented reality , workers can learn complex procedures. The virtual assistant allows you to visualize and interact with content, capture data and save multimedia files. “The simplicity of the interface, without programming, codes or text, is so quick to integrate that the implementation of the project takes three to five weeks, compared to a year with our competitors Microsoft, Unity or Unreal,” rejoices the entrepreneur. Customers from the aerospace, aviation and maritime sectors are approaching this young start-up.

Environment and sustainable development

"It is estimated that fifty million tons of waste are generated annually in the world," says Mohamed Khalil , a doctor of chemical engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. "A tiny portion is recycled, the majority ends up in landfills or in poor countries, where it continues to be toxic." Recycling electronic waste (cell phones, televisions, printers) without emitting any emissions is the mission of his company Pyrocycle . When we separate the electronic components from the plastic to recover the precious materials, we have to burn everything, which produces toxic emissions. Plastic is not recyclable. The pyrolysis process (chemical decomposition obtained by heat) developed by Mr. Khalil reduces electronic devices to powder in a unique and non-polluting way. It allows us to preserve the precious metals, which are in even greater quantities than in ores. A true circular economy, decontamination, no toxic discharge, complete recovery of valuable materials, a green business: Pyrocycle addresses significant health and environmental challenges. Companies, sorting centers, municipalities and foundries, here and abroad, have their eye on Pyrocycle.
